Original Art inspired by the vibrant African spirit

Chris

Chris Profile

Born in 1977 in Togo, Chris Issa Issifou has been painting since a young age. He has taken part in and has won the youth drawing competition organised by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in 1990 and 1991.

After passing his Baccalaureat Chris studied law due to a lack of art related university degree in his native country. In pursuit of his painting dream he embarked in a long learning journey across West Africa to perfect his painting techniques and he eventually dedicated his full time to painting.

Chris is inspired by his surrounding and his painting style can be described as figurative. The subjects of his works are African women doing their everyday tasks depicting everyday life and landscapes. In his quest for beauty, he describes painting as an inner pleasure. He currently lives and works in Cotonou, Benin.
